Summary

NYC Jobs-Plus provided employment services to individuals who were unemployed or underemployed.

NYC Jobs-Plus provided participants with job search assistance, job placement support, work-readiness activities, and soft-skills training. Participants, who primarily lived in public housing developments, received financial counseling services and assistance applying for Earned Income Disallowance benefits, which help the participant avoid rent increases based on earnings. The majority of participants lived in 1 of 18 participating public housing developments, and participants took part in activities that were intended to strengthen community support for work, including helping participants organize supports, such as child care vouchers and food assistance, and encouraging them to build their skills to advance in the workforce. Participants were either unemployed or underemployed when they began the program, and though they did not need to live in a public housing development in order to participate, most did. NYC Jobs-Plus took place in New York City, NY. NYC Jobs-Plus increased the number of sites from one to nine in the original Jobs-Plus Community Revitalization Initiative for Public Housing Families intervention.
